SportsCentury Intro, Re-Imagined (w/ Thoughts on Hank Aaron, 1934-2021)

Some years ago, ESPN Classic aired a series called "SportsCentury".  This show featured some of the greatest people and moments in sports history.  The sad announcement of the death of Hank Aaron (at the age of eighty-six; RIP) has made me think of the show's intro, and how I would present it today.

As there doesn't seem to be another way to re-mix this, I'll accomplish that via a "use your imagination" method.

Here's the original intro to the series.

Now, here's how I would edit the opening video.

First, audio from the "Bill Buckner Play" (with apologies to Red Sox fans, LOL) at 0:00.

At 0:14, the final play from the Chicago Cubs' 2016 World Series victory.

At about 0:18, Rod Bramblett's call of Auburn's "Kick Six" to win the 2013 Iron Bowl (over Alabama).  "They're not gonna keep 'em off the field tonight!"

At approximately 0:22, the moment when the New York Rangers won the 1994 Stanley Cup Final.  "And this one will last a lifetime!"

Finally, at about 0:26, the call of Hank Aaron hitting his record-breaking seven hundred and fifteenth home run (in 1974, off Dodgers pitcher Al Downing).  "There's a new home run champion of all time, and it's Henry Aaron!"

All this is followed by the original ending at 0:34.

Now for a brief moment of reflection.

Hank Aaron leaves behind a legacy of being a "game-changer".  Yet Aaron didn't just change the world of sports.  "Hammerin' Hank" knocked down racial barriers, and changed many minds regarding what an African-American man is supposed to be able to accomplish.  Thus, Aaron changed the world for the better.  He will rightly be remembered as one of the greatest men to ever pick up a baseball.

Rest In Peace, Hank; the "big team in the sky" just got another star player.
